Electron Beam Welding - Weldability

Weldability

Not all materials could be welded by electron beam in vacuum. This technology can not be applied to materials with high vapour pressure at the melting temperature, like zinc, cadmium, magnesium and practically all non-metals.

Another limitation of weldability may be the change of material properties inflicted by the welding process, as e.g. the high speed of cooling. As detailed discussion of this matter exceeds the scope of this article, the reader is recommended to look for more information to other literature.
