Eleanor Cameron - Mushroom Planet Series

Mushroom Planet Series

The Mushroom Planet novels are set—in part—on a tiny, habitable second moon in orbit 50,000 miles from Earth but invisible to Earth telescopes without a special filter. The "Mushroom Planet" is covered in various types of mushrooms and is populated by small green people, some of whom have emigrated to Earth.

    We breathe an ill wind,

    Denise Levertov (b. 1923)

What I like, or one of the things I like, about motoring is the sense it gives one of lighting accidentally, like a voyager who touches another planet with the tip of his toe, upon scenes which would have gone on, have always gone on, will go on, unrecorded, save for this chance glimpse. Then it seems to me I am allowed to see the heart of the world uncovered for a moment.
    Virginia Woolf (1882–1941)

If the technology cannot shoulder the entire burden of strategic change, it nevertheless can set into motion a series of dynamics that present an important challenge to imperative control and the industrial division of labor. The more blurred the distinction between what workers know and what managers know, the more fragile and pointless any traditional relationships of domination and subordination between them will become.
    Shoshana Zuboff (b. 1951)
