Ekofisk Oil Field - Bravo Blowout

Bravo Blowout

In April 1977, an oil well blowout occurred at the Ekofisk Bravo platform, due to an incorrectly installed downhole safety valve. At an estimated 80,000–126,000 barrels (13,000–20,000 m3) total, this is the largest blowout in the North Sea. Red Adair and his crew assisted with capping the blowout.
