Eisei Bunko Museum - Collection

Collection

The collection consists of over 100 thousands rare and old documents, scrolls, paintings, etc. and approximately 6000 objects of art, including crafts, modern paintings and sculptures acquired here and abroad. These are only estimated figures of the "legendary archive" whose content and exact size still remain unknown. The archive materials have been placed in the care of Kumamoto University for analysis while art objects are being exhibited at the museum in parts as they are catalogued.

Famous quotes containing the word collection:

Only the history of free peoples is worth our attention; the history of men under a despotism is merely a collection of anecdotes.
    —Sébastien-Roch Nicolas De Chamfort (1741–1794)

Bolkenstein, a Minister, was speaking on the Dutch programme from London, and he said that they ought to make a collection of diaries and letters after the war. Of course, they all made a rush at my diary immediately. Just imagine how interesting it would be if I were to publish a romance of the “Secret Annexe.” The title alone would be enough to make people think it was a detective story.
    Anne Frank (1929–1945)

All urbanization, pushed beyond a certain point, automatically becomes suburbanization.... Every great city is just a collection of suburbs. Its inhabitants ... do not live in their city; they merely inhabit it.
    Aldous Huxley (1894–1963)
