Edwin David Aponte

Edwin David Aponte is a Latino cultural historian, religious studies scholar, and contributor in the on-going development of U.S. Hispanic theology. Aponte is a cultural historian of religion in the United States focusing on the interplay between religion and culture, especially Hispanic/Latino(a) religions, African-American religions, North American religious history, and congregational studies. He is one of a small number of U.S. Hispanic historians of Christianity.

Since July 1, 2012 Aponte is Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dean of the Faculty, and Professor of Religion and Culture at Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, Indiana. Previously Aponte was Research Professor of Latina/o Christianity at New York Theological Seminary .
