Death and Burial
Edward and his wife both died the first winter. Their son Samuel, who was approximately 12 at this time, survived. Another son Matthew did not travel with them on the Mayflower but came over later. Edward Fuller and his wife died in Plymouth in 1621 and were buried in unmarked graves like so many others who died during the first winter in Plymouth. Their names are recorded on the Pilgrim Memorial Tomb on Coles Hill as “Edward Fuller and his wife”, now known to be Ann ______ Fuller.

Famous quotes containing the words death and, death and/or burial:
“You stars that reigned at my nativity,
Whose influence hath allotted death and hell.”
—Christopher Marlowe (15641593)
“Consider his life which was valueless
In terms of employment, hotel ledgers, news files.
Consider. One bullet in ten thousand kills a man.
Ask. Was so much expenditure justified
On the death of one so young and so silly
Lying under the olive tree, O world, O death?”
—Stephen Spender (19091995)
“On the beach at night,
Stands a child with her father,
Watching the east, the autumn sky.
Up through the darkness,
While ravening clouds, the burial clouds, in black masses spreading,
Lower sullen and fast athwart and down the sky,”
—Walt Whitman (18191892)
