Edmund III - Character

Character

Although as time goes on Blackadder's social standing tends to go down, this Lord Blackadder is similar to Lord Blackadder of Blackadder II and Mr. E. Blackadder of Blackadder the Third in both standing and wit. At the beginning of the special, Lord Blackadder is planning to scam his friends using a fake time machine. However, he learns to his surprise that the machine, built by Baldrick after plans by Leonardo Da Vinci, actually works. In the aftermath, Lord Blackadder manages to match wits with Robin Hood, Queenie, and William Shakespeare and comes out on top in every situation. Ultimately, he manipulates history so that the Blackadders replace the British Royal Family.

Famous quotes containing the word character:

His character as one of the fathers of the English language would alone make his works important, even those which have little poetical merit. He was as simple as Wordsworth in preferring his homely but vigorous Saxon tongue, when it was neglected by the court, and had not yet attained to the dignity of a literature, and rendered a similar service to his country to that which Dante rendered to Italy.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

A quality is something capable of being completely embodied. A law never can be embodied in its character as a law except by determining a habit. A quality is how something may or might have been. A law is how an endless future must continue to be.
    Charles Sanders Peirce (1839–1914)

No sooner does a great man depart, and leave his character as public property, than a crowd of little men rushes towards it. There they are gathered together, blinking up to it with such vision as they have, scanning it from afar, hovering round it this way and that, each cunningly endeavouring, by all arts, to catch some reflex of it in the little mirror of himself.
    Thomas Carlyle (1795–1881)
