She was born in 1864 and educated in England. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Kingdon, formerly of Toronto, Ontario. She worked a stage actress until her marriage, in the eighties, to George J. Gould, Esquire, of New York, son of the great American capitalist, Jay Gould.
