ECW One Night Stand (2005) - Reception

Reception

Critical reception to the pay-per-view was positive. TheWrestleReview awarded the event a score of 9.2 out of 10, stating that it was "an amazing event on so many levels. The average match quality of this event is an impeccable 8.51, but it wasn't just the quality of matches that made this event so special. The crowd were phenomenal and injected so much energy into the show, the matches were booked in respect to feuds that happened years before, or feuds that never got a chance to happen and the segments in between matches will be forever remembered in wrestling history. From RVDs live shoot interview to the ECW vs WWE confrontation after the main event all the way to Paul Heymans annihilation of numerous WWE representatives, the "filler" content in between matches was excellent, although possibly the most fitting content was the tributes to ECW wrestlers who have sadly passed away but will not be forgotten."

Famous quotes containing the word reception:

To aim to convert a man by miracles is a profanation of the soul. A true conversion, a true Christ, is now, as always, to be made by the reception of beautiful sentiments.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

But in the reception of metaphysical formula, all depends, as regards their actual and ulterior result, on the pre-existent qualities of that soil of human nature into which they fall—the company they find already present there, on their admission into the house of thought.
    Walter Pater (1839–1894)

He’s leaving Germany by special request of the Nazi government. First he sends a dispatch about Danzig and how 10,000 German tourists are pouring into the city every day with butterfly nets in their hands and submachine guns in their knapsacks. They warn him right then. What does he do next? Goes to a reception at von Ribbentropf’s and keeps yelling for gefilte fish!
    Billy Wilder (b. 1906)
