Growing Reduction of European Union Funds
Capital contributions from the EU, which contributed significantly to economic empowerment Spanish since joining the EEC, decreased considerably in recent 20 years due to economic standardization in relation to other countries and the effects of EU enlargement. On the one hand, agricultural funds the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union (CAP) is spread across more countries (the Eastern Europe countries have a significant agricultural sector).

Spain gradually becomes net contributor of funds for less developed countries of the Union.
