History
Eco Airlines was a privately owned airline which was established in 2004. It planned to launch operations in 2005 linking Brisbane to generally exotic destinations in the Pacific, using a Russian Yakovlev Yak-42D aircraft leased from the Russian airline Karat. Their flights were intended to cater for both the passenger and cargo markets, using an aircraft in a "Combi" configuration (passenger and cargo mixture).
After just two flights in February 2005, the airline ceased operations. After their shut down, the aircraft sat at the southern end Brisbane Airport for several months before being returned to its lessor in Russia.
