East London Inventors Club

East London Inventors' Club (also known as ELIC) was set up at the University of East London (at their Docklands campus) as a way for inventors in the area to get together and share their expertise and resources. The club normally meets on the last Thursday of each month with the exception of August and December when the university is closed for the holidays.

The club is known for its various achievements, in particular for their online inventors forum which at the time of writing has some 440 members and over 1,900 articles.

Biography is a very definite region bounded on the north by history, on the south by fiction, on the east by obituary, and on the west by tedium.
    Philip Guedalla (1889–1944)

...of all the shoddy foreigners one encounters, there are none so depressing as the London shoddy.

In America, the geography is sublime, but the men are not: the inventions are excellent, but the inventors one is sometimes ashamed of.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

In another year I’ll have enough money saved. Then I’m gonna go back to my hometown in Oregon and I’m gonna build a house for my mother and myself. And join the country club and take up golf. And I’ll meet the proper man with the proper position. And I’ll make a proper wife who can run a proper home and raise proper children. And I’ll be happy, because when you’re proper, you’re safe.
    Daniel Taradash (b. 1913)
