Pauline and Arthur Fowler travelled to the Southend to search for their 17-year-old son Mark, who had recently run away from home. They found him working as a mechanic on go-carts on the promenade. To their surprise he was living with a Swedish woman, Ingrid, and her two small children who knew Mark as Daddy! Mark refused to return to Walford with them.
These episodes which aired in December 1985 were the first time that EastEnders was filmed on location for an extended period. The episodes were written by Bill Lyons and the storyline's intention was to help highlight the problems some parents face when their teenage children disappear from home.
