E. O. Smith High School - Senior Projects

Senior Projects

E.O. seniors must complete a year-long, self-directed "senior project," which is a requirement for graduation. It includes a thesis-driven research paper, community service work, a presentation to the school community, and an activity or product. Three teachers generally advise the student during the process, and will grade the project upon completion as either highly successful, successful, or not yet successful. A minimum grade of successful is needed for graduation.

Famous quotes containing the words senior and/or projects:

I suffer whenever I see that common sight of a parent or senior imposing his opinion and way of thinking and being on a young soul to which they are totally unfit. Cannot we let people be themselves, and enjoy life in their own way? You are trying to make that man another you. One’s enough.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

But look what we have built ... low-income projects that become worse centers of delinquency, vandalism and general social hopelessness than the slums they were supposed to replace.... Cultural centers that are unable to support a good bookstore. Civic centers that are avoided by everyone but bums.... Promenades that go from no place to nowhere and have no promenaders. Expressways that eviscerate great cities. This is not the rebuilding of cities. This is the sacking of cities.
    Jane Jacobs (b. 1916)
