Dutch Passport

A Dutch passport is issued to citizens of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (Dutch: Koninkrijk der Nederlanden) for the purpose of international travel. As the Netherlands only distinguish one category of citizen (Nederlandse (Dutch), NLD), for all countries in the Kingdom, passports are the same for all four countries. The passport also serves as a means of identification as required by the Dutch law since January 1, 2005 for all persons over the age of fourteen. Dutch passports are valid for a period of five years from issuing date. The passport complies to the rules (EG 2252/04) specified by the European Union. Since August 26, 2006 all passports are issued as a biometric passport with an embedded contactless smartcard RFID chip for storing biometric data.

Famous quotes containing the words dutch and/or passport:

    ‘Tis probable Religion after this
Came next in order; which they could not miss.
How could the Dutch but be converted, when
The Apostles were so many fishermen?
Besides the waters of themselves did rise,
And, as their land, so them did re-baptize.
    Andrew Marvell (1621–1678)

Whenever [Leonard Bernstein] entered or exited a country he would fill in on his passport form not composer or conductor, but musician. Of course people in the press spent a lot of Lenny’s life telling him what he should have done; he should have been a concert pianist, he should have composed more.... And people wouldn’t let him live his own life. But he created his own career, in his own image.
    John Mauceri (b. 1945)
