Dust Explosion - U.S. Work Place Regulation

U.S. Work Place Regulation

Work place safety in the United States is regulated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Although there are currently no OSHA standards that specifically regulate combustible dusts, several OSHA standards are used to mitigate the risks of dust explosions, especially the OSHA Sanitation standard, subparagraph (a)(2) Housekeeping, and the General Duty Clause of the OSH Act.

As of 3/12, OSHA has a National Emphasis Program (NEP) targeting work site which may have combustible dusts Combustible Dust.

Famous quotes containing the words work, place and/or regulation:

Bees plunder the flowers here and there, but afterward they make of them honey, which is all theirs; it is no longer thyme or marjoram. Even so with the pieces borrowed from others; one will transform and blend them to make a work that is all one’s own, that is, one’s judgement. Education, work, and study aim only at forming this.
    Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592)

    Farewel happy Fields
Where Joy for ever dwells: Hail horrours, hail
Infernal world, and thou profoundest Hell
Receive thy new Possessor: One who brings
A mind not to be chang’d by Place or Time.
The mind is its own place, and in it self
Can make a Heav’n of Hell, a Hell of Heav’n.
    John Milton (1608–1674)

Nothing can be more real, or concern us more, than our own sentiments of pleasure and uneasiness; and if these be favourable to virtue and unfavourable to vice, no more can be requisite to the regulation of our conduct and behavior.
    David Hume (1711–1776)
