Prototype
Duncan is based on Douglas, a 0-4-0 engine built in 1918 that works on the Talyllyn Railway in Tywyn, Wales. See the List of Talyllyn Railway rolling stock for more details. The engine ran for some years under the guise of Duncan, depicted by painting the engine in red livery with a face wearing a Scottish cap. In 2007, the engine was withdrawn for a major overhaul and is due to return to service around the Winter of 2012/13. Douglas' overhaul is believed to be the reason why Duncan didn't return in the sixteenth series with the other original narrow gauge engines.
