The Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre was built in 1979 by the late H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai. The Dubai World Trade Center is considered to be the focal point of business within the Middle East. Since its inauguration, the centre has played a role in stimulating regional and international trade through the UAE.
The complex comprises the original 39-story office tower, the World Trade Centre Residence, eight exhibition halls, the Dubai International Convention Centre, which can accommodate more than 4500 delegates in its multipurpose hall when set in auditorium style, a business club, and residential apartments with a leisure club.
The DICC has 35,000 square metres of adjoining exhibition space.
Famous quotes containing the words convention and/or centre:
“No convention gets to be a convention at all except by grace of a lot of clever and powerful people first inventing it, and then imposing it on others. You can be pretty sure, if you are strictly conventional, that you are following geniusa long way off. And unless you are a genius yourself, that is a good thing to do.”
—Katharine Fullerton Gerould (18791944)
“In the centre of his cage
The pacing animal
Surveys the jungle cove
And slicks his slithering wiles
To turn the venereal awl
In the livid wound of love.”
—Allen Tate (18991979)
