Druther's - History

History

The first Burger Queen was built in Middletown, Kentucky, in 1963, and still stands today as a Dairy Queen at 11806 Shelbyville Road. The mascot of Burger Queen was Queenie Bee. The last operating Druther's (as of August 2011) is in Campbellsville, Kentucky.

Several Druther's restaurants were converted to the Dairy Queen chain in the late-1980s/early-1990s. The company that owned Druther's - Druther's Systems Inc. - retained ownership of many of the restaurants after they became Dairy Queens. It was reported in 1996 that a company called International Dairy Queen Inc. bought 31 Dairy Queen/Brazier outlets in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana from Druther's Systems Inc. for an undisclosed price. The lone existing Druther's restaurant is located in Campbellsville, Kentucky.

Druther's is known for their breakfast and lunch menu; they are not open for dinner.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

It takes a great deal of history to produce a little literature.
    Henry James (1843–1916)

The whole history of civilisation is strewn with creeds and institutions which were invaluable at first, and deadly afterwards.
    Walter Bagehot (1826–1877)

The best history is but like the art of Rembrandt; it casts a vivid light on certain selected causes, on those which were best and greatest; it leaves all the rest in shadow and unseen.
    Walter Bagehot (1826–1877)
