North America Only Releases
The pilot of the U.S. broadcast version of Dragon Ball Z was built by combining their first four episodes (first six of original Japanese) which were "The Arrival of Raditz", "The World's Strongest Team", "Gohan's Hidden Powers" and "Goku's Unusual Journey", and released on home video as Arrival. The VHS release had two cover variants. It was released through Pioneer and Funimation. Additionally, the episode "Gohan Attacks" was an episode that was not shown on TV or available on the VHS edited version of the second volume of the Frieza saga which was, Transformation. But, it was available exclusively to the uncut version, and the DVD version.
When Dragon Ball GT first aired on American television the first 16 episodes were not aired. Funimation Entertainment instead created "A Grand Problem", which was a recap using scenes from the skipped episodes to reveal the story. It was included in the first North American home video release of GT, Affliction. The skipped episodes were broadcast after the rest of the series ended as "The Lost Episodes", and also released on home video after the rest of the series. The final four of the skipped episodes, "The Man Behind the Curtain", "The Battle Within", "Beginning of the End" and "Giru's Checkered Past", were combined into The Lost Episodes: Activation. The last volume of the original North American home video release of Dragon Ball GT, Generations, was a "movie" built by combining the series' final four episodes; "The Limits of Power", "Rescue Goku", "Universal Allies" and "Until We Meet Again".
