Douglas, Isle of Man - Attractions

Attractions

Douglas is the capital of the Isle Of Man, and so it is the main shopping center, this attracts many people to Douglas, mainly on Saturdays and the rest of the weekend. Douglas has many shops that are only available in Douglas; such as HMV, TK Maxx, Topshop, Boots, Marks and Spencer, Shoprite, and Toymaster.

Douglas used to have a large children's indoor play area called Summerland. This was abandoned in the early 00's. The unique thing about Summerland was that it was made out of the mountain, the building was literally carved out from the actual rock of Douglas. Other attractions that shut down include Castle Mona, this was a castle in the Victorian times but since then it became a popular bowling alley. Castle Mona shut down in 2011 and a new bowling alley opened in Ramsey where the old swimming pool used to be.

Famous quotes containing the word attractions:

The world,—this shadow of the soul, or other me, lies wide around. Its attractions are the keys which unlock my thoughts and make me acquainted with myself. I run eagerly into this resounding tumult. I grasp the hands of those next to me, and take my place in the ring to suffer and to work, taught by an instinct, that so shall the dumb abyss be vocal with speech.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Fantasy love is much better than reality love. Never doing it is very exciting. The most exciting attractions are between two opposites that never meet.
    Andy Warhol (1928–1987)
