Family

Meredith was married three times: first wife, Lynne Shamburger, a former SMU cheerleader, which lasted from 1959–63, and produced one daughter, Mary. From 1965–71, he was married to the former Cheryl King. Two children were products of that marriage: son Michael and daughter Heather. He met his third wife, the former Susan Lessons Dullea, ex-wife of actor Keir Dullea, as they both were walking down 3rd Avenue in New York City. They married in 1972.

Famous quotes containing the word family:

My ambition for station was always easily controlled. If the place came to me it was welcome. But it never seemed to me worth seeking at the cost of self-respect, or independence. My family were not historic; they were well-to-do, did not hold or seek office. It was easy for me to be contented in private life. An honor was no honor to me, if obtained by my own seeking.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)

I worry about people who get born nowadays, because they get born into such tiny families—sometimes into no family at all. When you’re the only pea in the pod, your parents are likely to get you confused with the Hope Diamond. And that encourages you to talk too much.
    Russell Baker (b. 1925)

Children need money. As they grow older they need more money. They need money for essentially the same reasons that adults need money. They need to buy stuff....They need it regardless of whether they get good grades, violate a family rule, or offend a parent.
    Donald C. Medeiros (20th century)
