The Cossacks faith is a Pravoslavny one and they see themselves as its protectors. On other hand big percentage of Cossacks on Don was of Starovers. Even in 1903 minimum 150000 from total 2.500.000 parish of Don Eparchy was of Starovers. Ataman count Matvei Platov was of Popovtsy Old Believers Family.
