Famous quotes containing the word drink:

During these fits of absolute unconsciousness I drank, God only knows how often or how much. As a matter of course, my enemies referred the insanity to the drink rather than the drink to the insanity. I had indeed, nearly abandoned all hope of a permanent cure when I found one in the death of my wife.
    Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849)

Drink, sir, is a great provoker of three things ... nose-painting, sleep, and urine. Lechery, sir, it provokes and unprovokes: it provokes the desire but it takes away the performance. Therefore much drink may be said to be an equivocator with lechery: it makes him and it mars him; it sets him on and it takes him off.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

Don’t drink alone, Scarlett. People always find out and it ruins your reputation.
    Sidney Howard (1891–1939)
