Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede - Change To Pirate Theme in Myrtle Beach

Change To Pirate Theme in Myrtle Beach

On September 22, 2010, Parton said she would change her Myrtle Beach theater after 18 years. After the Christmas show, the Myrtle Beach location shut down. The animals were moved to the other Dixie Stampede locations or sold. Starting in June 2011, Pirates Voyage Fun, Feast & Adventure, "a watery wonderland with an indoor lake where pirates will roam", featured a pirate fight along with a five-course meal. Parton appeared for the June 3, 2011 opening "clad in pink-sequined pirate's garb", and the South Carolina General Assembly declared June 3, 2011 Dolly Parton Day.

Famous quotes containing the words change, pirate, theme, myrtle and/or beach:

I hope we shall give them a thorough drubbing this summer, and then change our tomahawk into a golden chain of friendship.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)

The pirate gaped at Belinda’s dragon,
And gulped some grog from his pocket flagon,
He fired two bullets, but they didn’t hit,
And Custard gobbled him, every bit.
    Ogden Nash (1902–1971)

The saying, “The Magyar is much too lazy to be bored,” is worth thinking about. Only the most subtle and active animals are capable of boredom.—A theme for a great poet would be God’s boredom on the seventh day of creation.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

    Them she upstays
Gently with myrtle band, mindless the while
    Herself, though fairest unsupported flower,
From her best prop so far, and storm so nigh.
    John Milton (1608–1674)

From the beach the child holding the hand of her father,
Those burial clouds that lower victorious soon to devour all,
    Watching, silently weeps.
    Walt Whitman (1819–1892)
