Doctor of Nursing Science

The Doctor of Nursing Science, usually abbreviated DNS, DSN, DNSc, or DScN., is an academic research degree awarded in a number of countries throughout the world as a terminal research degree in Nursing. This academic research degree is recognized by both the United States Department of Education and the National Science Foundation to be equivalent to the more commonly awarded Ph.D.

Most universities have discontinued the degree in favor of the more recognized Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree.

Famous quotes containing the words doctor, nursing and/or science:

And still we wear our uniforms, follow
The cracked cry of the bugles, comb and brush
Our pride and prejudice, doctor the sallow
Initial ardor, wish to keep it fresh.
Still we applaud the President’s voice and face.
    Gwendolyn Brooks (b. 1917)

If America does not wish to end her days in the same nursing home as Britannia she had best end this geo-babble about new world orders. Our war, the Cold War, is over. It is time for America to come home.
    Patrick Buchanan (b. 1938)

The negative cautions of science are never popular. If the experimentalist would not commit himself, the social philosopher, the preacher, and the pedagogue tried the harder to give a short- cut answer.
    Margaret Mead (1901–1978)
