Early Life
Do was born Dominique Rijpma in 1981 in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Although she had been singing throughout most of her childhood, Dominique Rijpma never considered a music career. Her father is a popular tennis coach by the name of Willem-Jan van Hulst. She was a gifted tennis player and at the age of 15 started preparations to compete in Wimbledon, but was forced to end her tennis career early because of an injury.

Famous quotes containing the words early and/or life:
“When lilacs last in the dooryard bloomed
And the great star early drooped in the western sky in the night,
I mourned, and yet shall mourn with ever-returning spring.
Ever-returning spring, trinity sure to me you bring,
Lilac blooming perennial and drooping star in the west,
And thought of him I love.”
—Walt Whitman (18191892)
“I have not read of any Arcadian life which surpasses the actual luxury and serenity of these New England dwellings. For the outward gilding, at least, the age is golden enough.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
