Distributed File System (Microsoft) - History

History

The server component of Distributed File System was first introduced as an add-on to Windows NT 4.0 Server, called "DFS 4.1", and was later included as a standard component of all editions of Windows 2000 Server. Windows NT 4.0 and later include client-side support for DFS. Versions 2.6.14 and later of the Linux kernel come with an SMB client VFS called "cifs" that supports DFS. Thursby Software's DAVE, ADmitMac and ADmitMac PKI products support DFS commercially on Mac OS X. DFS is reported to be supported natively in Mac OS X 10.7 ("Lion").

Famous quotes containing the word history:

No event in American history is more misunderstood than the Vietnam War. It was misreported then, and it is misremembered now.
    Richard M. Nixon (b. 1913)

Every generation rewrites the past. In easy times history is more or less of an ornamental art, but in times of danger we are driven to the written record by a pressing need to find answers to the riddles of today.... In times of change and danger when there is a quicksand of fear under men’s reasoning, a sense of continuity with generations gone before can stretch like a lifeline across the scary present and get us past that idiot delusion of the exceptional Now that blocks good thinking.
    John Dos Passos (1896–1970)

All history becomes subjective; in other words there is properly no history, only biography.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
