Other Ways To Play

Despite the length of face-to-face Diplomacy games, there are people who organize ad-hoc games, and there are also various clubs that have annual tournaments and monthly club games.

To overcome the difficulty of assembling enough players for a sufficiently large block of time together, a play-by-mail game community has developed, either via Postal or Internet Diplomacy, using either humans to adjudicate the turns or automatic adjudicators.

Famous quotes containing the words ways and/or play:

    What children learn from punishment is that might makes right. When they are old and strong enough, they will try to get their own back; thus many children punish their parents by acting in ways distressing to them.
    Bruno Bettelheim (20th century)

    I bow’d not to thy image for succession,
    Nor bound thy bow to shoot reformed kindness,
    Thy plays of hope and fear were my confession,
    The spectacles to my life was thy blindness;
    But Cupid now farewell, I will go play me,
    With thoughts that please me less and less betray me.
    Fulke Greville (1554–1628)
