Famous quotes containing the words personal and/or life:

Keep your own secret, and get out other people’s. Keep your own temper, and artfully warm other people’s. Counterwork your rivals with diligence and dexterity, but at the same time with the utmost personal civility to them: and be firm without heat.
Philip Dormer Stanhope, 4th Earl Chesterfield (1694–1773)

Undershaft: Alcohol is a very necessary article. It heals the sick—Barbara: It does nothing of the sort. It makes life bearable to millions of people who could not endure their existence if they were quite sober. It enables Parliament to do things at eleven at night that no sane person would do at eleven in the morning.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)
