Dick's Picks Volume 10

Dick's Picks Volume 10 is the tenth live album in the Dick's Picks series of releases by the Grateful Dead. It was recorded at Winterland Arena in San Francisco on December 29, 1977, with extra tracks recorded on the following night.

The album omits the songs "It Must Have Been the Roses" and "Sunrise", which originally had taken place after "Good Lovin'". It also includes the first performance of "China Cat Sunflower" in over three years, which is audibly greeted with applause from the audience. The final four tracks on disc three constitute the songs taken from the December 30 concert.

The show was highly regarded long before its release as a commercial CD, having circulated among bootleg tape traders.

Famous quotes containing the words dick, picks and/or volume:

Science fiction writers, I am sorry to say, really do not know anything. We can’t talk about science, because our knowledge of it is limited and unofficial, and usually our fiction is dreadful.
    —Philip K. Dick (1928–1982)

With liberty and pleasant weather, the simplest occupation, any unquestioned country mode of life which detains us in the open air, is alluring. The man who picks peas steadily for a living is more than respectable, he is even envied by his shop-worn neighbors. We are as happy as the birds when our Good Genius permits us to pursue any outdoor work, without a sense of dissipation.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Bishop Berkeley destroyed this world in one volume octavo; and nothing remained, after his time, but mind; which experienced a similar fate from the hand of Hume in 1737.
    Sydney Smith (1771–1845)
