But the main attraction of the region is that the nature is preserved and maintained along with the industries. Dhofar has been praised for its scenic natural beauty from times immemorial. Famous quotes containing the words culture and/or landmarks:

The hatred of the youth culture for adult society is not a disinterested judgment but a terror-ridden refusal to be hooked into the, if you will, ecological chain of breathing, growing, and dying. It is the demand, in other words, to remain children.
    Midge Decter (b. 1927)

The lives of happy people are dense with their own doings—crowded, active, thick.... But the sorrowing are nomads, on a plain with few landmarks and no boundaries; sorrow’s horizons are vague and its demands are few.
    Larry McMurtry (b. 1936)
