Early Life
He was born in a Punjabi Sikh jat family in Punjab state to Kewal Kishan Singh Deol and Satwant Kaur. He spent his early life in village Sahnewal. His father was a school headmaster in the village of Lalton Ludhiana, where the family later moved to bombay .
