Home Video Release
The third season was officially released on DVD in region 1 on September 4, 2007, almost a month before the fourth season premiere, which aired on September 30, 2007. Under the title of "Desperate Housewives: The Complete Third Season – Dirty Laundry Edition", the box set consists of episodes with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound and widescreen format. It also contained extras available only on DVD, including extended episodes, interviews with cast and crew members, footage from behind the scenes and unaired scenes cut from the aired episodes. The same set was released in region 4 on October 11, 2007, a month after the original release in the United States and Canada. The season has not been on Blu-ray disc in any region.
The box set is currently no. 2598 in Movies and Television on Amazon.com and no. 1951 in Film and Television on Amazon.co.uk. Rachel Thomas of About.com noted an improvement in the box set following the second season's "not-so-great" one, referring to how this season "brings the magic of this refreshing series back to the small screen", by calling each episode "delicious". Thomas expressed her enthusiasm in the box set by stating: "This bonus-rich DVD release offers fans loads of fascinating behind-the-scenes footage and an inside look into how the cast really gets along. You may be surprised while watching the hilarious outtakes and bloopers."

“We attempt to remember our collective American childhood, the way it was, but what we often remember is a combination of real past, pieces reshaped by bitterness and love, and, of course, the video pastthe portrayals of family life on such television programs as Leave it to Beaver and Father Knows Best and all the rest.”

“An inquiry about the attitude towards the release of so-called political prisoners. I should be very sorry to see the United States holding anyone in confinement on account of any opinion that that person might hold. It is a fundamental tenet of our institutions that people have a right to believe what they want to believe and hold such opinions as they want to hold without having to answer to anyone for their private opinion.”
—Calvin Coolidge (18721933)
