Derby Della Mole

Derby della Mole, also known as the Turin Derby (Derby di Torino), is the local derby, played out between the city's two most successful teams, Torino F.C. and Juventus F.C.. The first match took place in 1906 and most derbies take place in the Serie A or Coppa Italia. It is the oldest Italian derby. The 2008-09 season would be the last derby matches between the two sides as shared tenants of the Olimpico. Since then, Torino has been relegated to Serie B and then regained promotion after finishing runners-up in the 2011-12 season while Juventus moved to their new stadium on the site of the mostly demolished Stadio delle Alpi in the summer of 2011.

In the stadium, Juventus fans usually shout out "Inferior!" and "Minors!" and Torino fans have been known to shout "Cheats!" and "Scumbags!" due to Juventus' alleged involvement in the Calciopoli scandals. Although not as high-profile as the other major inter-city derbies such as that of Rome and Milan, the rivalry is still keenly felt as Juventus and Torino are Piedmont's biggest and most successful clubs and have become something of a regional symbol in Northern Italy. Incidents such as the 1949 Superga air disaster and the 1985 Heysel Stadium disaster are brought up and referenced in chants by ultras from time to time, even at matches against other clubs.

Derby matches have been more sporadic in the 21st century due to Torino regularly teetering between Serie A and Serie B. After the Serie A 2002-03 season, Torino were relegated and the two clubs would not meet until the 2007-08 season as Torino were promoted for the 2006-07 season while Juventus were relegated as punishment for the Calciopoli scandals. Torino were relegated again after the 2008-09 season. The two clubs met again in Serie A for the first time in three seasons during the 2012-13 season.
