Denis Matsuev

Denis Leonidovich Matsuev PAR (Дени́с Леони́дович Мацу́ев; born 11 June 1975), nicknamed "The Siberian Bear," is a Russian classical pianist. He is the winner of the International Tchaikovsky Competition in 1998 in Moscow, and of the Dmitri Shostakovich Award in Music and State Prize of Russian Federation in Literature and Arts. Matsuev's career began dramatically and at a young age. His performances are marked by grand Russian traditions combined with innovatory creative conceptions, high quality of concert programs, virtuosity and moving renderings.
