Delft Railway Station
Delft is a railway station in Delft, the Netherlands, located on the railway line between The Hague and Rotterdam. The first train passed the railway station on May 31, 1847. A few days later, on June 3, the railway station opened its doors. It was initially located on the Houttuinen. Because of an increase in the number of passengers and goods, a new railway station had to be opened in 1885, just to the south of the previous station. This building was designed by Christiaan Posthumus Meyjes sr. Currently a new station is being constructed underground.

Famous quotes containing the words railway and/or station:
“Her personality had an architectonic quality; I think of her when I see some of the great London railway termini, especially St. Pancras, with its soot and turrets, and she overshadowed her own daughters, whom she did not understandmy mother, who liked things to be nice; my dotty aunt. But my mother had not the strength to put even some physical distance between them, let alone keep the old monster at emotional arms length.”
—Angela Carter (19401992)
“With boys you always know where you stand. Right in the path of a hurricane. Its all there. The fruit flies hovering over their waste can, the hamster trying to escape to cleaner air, the bedrooms decorated in Early Bus Station Restroom.”
—Erma Bombeck (20th century)
