Delaware wine refers to wine made from grapes grown in the U.S. state of Delaware.
Delaware has only two wineries that each have limited production, the fewest of any state in the United States. The first and largest winery is Nassau Valley Vineyards, which makes fruit wines in addition to grape wines. The second winery is Pizzadili, a small, family owned and run business, opened in 2007. They offer a large selection of wines grown from Delaware grapes. They too make fruit wines in addition to grape wines.
Historically, the first Swedish settlers planted grapes and made wine in Delaware as early as 1638.
Famous quotes containing the word wine:
“Food probably has a very great influence on the condition of men. Wine exercises a more visible influence, food does it more slowly but perhaps just as surely. Who knows if a well-prepared soup was not responsible for the pneumatic pump or a poor one for a war?”
—G.C. (Georg Christoph)
