  • Reportedly this song inspired Flint, Michigan broadcaster, Vernon Merritt, to tag the new FM radio station he started in 1979 with the call letters WDZZ (with, fittingly, a format of disco and jazz). The station still broadcasts today with a successful R&B format.
  • In the family reunion scene of Tyler Perry's 2005 film, Diary of a Mad Black Woman, the family does a line dance to the song.
