Famous quotes containing the words david, baron and/or wilson:
“Most men would feel shame if caught preparing with their own hands precisely such a dinner, whether of animal or vegetable food, as is every day prepared for them by others. Yet till this is otherwise we are not civilized, and, if gentlemen and ladies, are not true men and women. This certainly suggests what change is to be made.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“Generosity is a part of my character, and I therefore hasten to assure this Government that I will never make an allegation of dishonesty against it wherever a simple explanation of stupidity will suffice.”
—Lever Leslie, Baron (19051977)
“Interest does not tie nations together; it sometimes separates them. But sympathy and understanding does unite them.”
—Woodrow Wilson (18561924)
