Playing Style and International Recognition

A defensive midfielder, right full-back or right wing-back, Bowman was a player who was underrated by many, but not by Dundee United supporters, who will always hold him in high esteem. Bowman was renowned for the toughness of his tackling (he was nicknamed Psycho at United), but this was not his only footballing attribute and his skills saw him play for Scotland, who selected him for their squad that played in the 1992 European Championships, the first occasion that Scotland had qualified for the finals of this championship.

Famous quotes containing the words playing, style and/or recognition:

The traditional American husband and father had the responsibilities—and the privileges—of playing the role of primary provider. Sharing that role is not easy. To yield exclusive access to the role is to surrender some of the potential for fulfilling the hero fantasy—a fantasy that appeals to us all. The loss is far from trivial.
    Faye J. Crosby (20th century)

I never knew a writer yet who took the smallest pains with his style and was at the same time readable.
    Samuel Butler (1835–1902)

Justice begins with the recognition of the necessity of sharing. The oldest law is that which regulates it, and this is still the most important law today and, as such, has remained the basic concern of all movements which have at heart the community of human activities and of human existence in general.
    Elias Canetti (b. 1905)
