Dave Hamilton (baseball) - Return To Oakland

Return To Oakland

The A's were far from a World Series team when Hamilton returned in 1979. Considering the club lost 108 games his first season back, Hamilton's mark of 3-4 with five saves and a 3.70 ERA is respectable. He split 1980 between Oakland and the Ogden A's, going 0-3 with an 11.40 ERA at the major league level. After four games with the Pacific Coast League's Tacoma Tigers in 1981, he retired.

Famous quotes containing the words return to and/or return:

I am apt to think, if we knew what it was to be an angel for one hour, we should return to this world, though it were to sit on the brightest throne in it, with vastly more loathing and reluctance than we would now descend into a loathsome dungeon or sepulchre.
    George Berkeley (1685–1753)

I find very reasonable the Celtic belief that the souls of our dearly departed are trapped in some inferior being, in an animal, a plant, an inanimate object, indeed lost to us until the day, which for some never arrives, when we find that we pass near the tree, or come to possess the object which is their prison. Then they quiver, call us, and as soon as we have recognized them, the spell is broken. Freed by us, they have vanquished death and return to live with us.
    Marcel Proust (1871–1922)
