Broadcast Career

Before working for ESPN, Barnett served as the announcer for the NBA's San Antonio Spurs from 1988 to 1996, the Dallas Mavericks from 1981 to 1988, the 1990 Texas Rangers games, and Southwest Conference football and basketball on Raycom Sports. In 2009, Barnett's contract with ESPN ended, allowing him to return to the Texas Rangers, where he served as a radio broadcaster. On May 26, 2011, it was announced that Dave Barnett would be replacing John Rhadigan as the Texas Rangers television play-by-play announcer.
