On 16 July 1977 Darryl Cotton married Cheryl Forehead, the couple had two children Amy and Tim. Cotton had co-written his hit single, "Same Old Girl", about Cheryl. Cotton died on 27 July 2012, eleven days after the couple’s 35th anniversary, aged 62.
