Dark Passage - Plot

Plot

Vincent Parry (Humphrey Bogart), wrongly convicted of murdering his wife, escapes from prison and is taken in by Irene Jansen (Lauren Bacall), an artist with an interest in his case. Helped by a friendly cabbie, Parry gets a new face from a plastic surgeon, thereby enabling him to dodge the authorities and find his wife's real killer. He has difficulty staying hidden, in part because Madge Rapf (played by Agnes Moorehead), the spiteful woman whose testimony sent him up to prison, and who has an unhealthy interest in Irene, keeps stopping by.

Famous quotes containing the word plot:

    Morality for the novelist is expressed not so much in the choice of subject matter as in the plot of the narrative, which is perhaps why in our morally bewildered time novelists have often been timid about plot.
    Jane Rule (b. 1931)

    Ends in themselves, my letters plot no change;
    They carry nothing dutiable; they won’t
    Aspire, astound, establish or estrange.
    Philip Larkin (1922–1986)

    “The plot thickens,” he said, as I entered.
    Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859–1930)
