Daniel Murphy High School - The Murphy Pledge

The Murphy Pledge

"A noble man does noble deeds, and by noble deeds he stands." (Isaiah 32:8)

I promise to do my best to live up to
the ideals of Daniel Murphy Catholic High School.
I will try to become a truly noble man, by developing
my talents and using them in the service of God and for the benefits of others.
I ask the help of my brothers at Murphy in keeping this pledge.

Famous quotes containing the words murphy and/or pledge:

If I were in the unenviable position of having to study my work my points of departure would be the “Naught is more real ...” and the “Ubi nihil vales ...” both already in Murphy and neither very rational.
    Samuel Beckett (1906–1989)

I am heartily tired of this life of bondage, responsibility, and toil. I wish it was at an end.... We are both physically very healthy.... Our tempers are cheerful. We are social and popular. But it is one of our greatest comforts that the pledge not to take a second term relieves us from considering it. That was a lucky thing. It is a reform—or rather a precedent for a reform, which will be valuable.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)
