Daniel F. Akin House

The Daniel F. Akin House is a ca. 1860 farmhouse, located at 19185 Akin Road, Farmington in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The Italianate two-story home built of locally-quarried limestone features a hipped roof with cupola on top. It is an example of the "Country Homes" style of Andrew Jackson Downing, a pioneer in American landscape architecture.

Famous quotes containing the words daniel, akin and/or house:

    No April can revive thy withered flowers,
    Whose blooming grace adorns thy glory now;
    Swift speeding Time, feathered with flying hours,
    Dissolves the beauty of the fairest brow.
    Oh let not then such riches waste in vain,
    But love whilst that thou mayst be loved again.
    —Samuel Daniel (1562–1619)

    Some friendship is closely akin to treachery.
    —Robert N. Lee. Rowland V. Lee. King Edward IV (Ian Hunter)

    The farmhouse lingers, though averse to square
    With the new city street it has to wear
    A number in. But what about the brook
    That held the house as in an elbow-crook?
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)
