Daniel F. Akin House

The Daniel F. Akin House is a ca. 1860 farmhouse, located at 19185 Akin Road, Farmington in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The Italianate two-story home built of locally-quarried limestone features a hipped roof with cupola on top. It is an example of the "Country Homes" style of Andrew Jackson Downing, a pioneer in American landscape architecture.

Famous quotes containing the words daniel, akin and/or house:

Daniel: I’m glad to know you.
Jerry: How can you be glad to know me? I know how I’d feel if I were sitting with a girl and her husband walked in.
    Lucy: I’ll bet you do.
Vina Delmar, U.S. novelist, playwright. Daniel (Ralph Bellamy)

A man’s women folk, whatever their outward show of respect for his merit and authority, always regard him secretly as an ass, and with something akin to pity. His most gaudy sayings and doings seldom deceive them; they see the actual man within, and know him for a shallow and pathetic fellow. In this fact, perhaps, lies one of the best proofs of feminine intelligence, or, as the common phrase makes it, feminine intuition.
    —H.L. (Henry Lewis)

In a tiger’s house there are no puppy dogs.
    Chinese proverb.
