Dallas World Aquarium - Education

Education

The aquarium is also part of a joint initiative between local companies and corporations and the Dallas Public School district. Many of the Aquarium's employees are also full-time students at the School of Business & Management at the Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Magnet High School. This joint venture as part of a work-study program by the school, emphasizes real world business techniques and practices in order to teach the upcoming generation on maintaining and running the day to day operations of one of the city's largest and most well-known attractions.

Famous quotes containing the word education:

Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do, when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not; it is the first lesson that ought to be learned; and however early a man’s training begins, its probably the last lesson that he learns thoroughly.
    Thomas Henry Huxley (1825–95)

In that reconciling of God and Mammon which Mrs. Grantly had carried on so successfully in the education of her daughter, the organ had not been required, and had become withered, if not defunct, through want of use.
    Anthony Trollope (1815–1882)

The proper aim of education is to promote significant learning. Significant learning entails development. Development means successively asking broader and deeper questions of the relationship between oneself and the world. This is as true for first graders as graduate students, for fledging artists as graying accountants.
    Laurent A. Daloz (20th century)
