Dallas Voice - Headquarters

Headquarters

The Dallas Voice offices are located in an area defined by the "Dallas City Ordinance 21859" as Oak Lawn. The paper's headquarters have been at Carlisle Avenue since the 1990s; the paper moved there because the location is near four gay bars. A The Dallas Morning News article said that the offices were in Uptown. David Webb, a journalist at the Dallas Voice, said in response that the offices of the Dallas Voice had been located there for 24 years. Webb contacted the author of the article, David Flick. Flick said that the area with the Dallas Voice offices is considered to be Uptown and not Oak Lawn. Michael Milliken, the president of the Oak Lawn committee, says that Uptown is a part of Oak Lawn. The newspaper offices are not within the Uptown Public Improvement District boundaries.

Famous quotes containing the word headquarters:

What does headquarters think these guys came over here for, a sewing circle? They go up playing for keeps. Cops and robbers with rocks in the snowballs. Brass knuckles and lead pipes and a roughneck conviction they can lick any man in the world.
    Dalton Trumbo (1905–1976)

If the national security is involved, anything goes. There are no rules. There are people so lacking in roots about what is proper and what is improper that they don’t know there’s anything wrong in breaking into the headquarters of the opposition party.
    Helen Gahagan Douglas (1900–1980)

Anything goes in Wichita. Leave your revolvers at police headquarters and get a check.
—For the State of Kansas, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
