During an interview at the 2008 NXNE festival with DJ Dave Bookman of Toronto's CFNY-FM, Green confirmed that he was indeed named after the famous major league pitcher/manager of the same name. He stated that, although he was born on September 29, 1980, he had gone without a name at first; his mother was considering naming him Graham-Todd Green, but his father had bet on Philadelphia Phillies during the 1980 World Series that October and, after the team won, his parents decided on the name Dallas after the Phillies' manager.
